Sisters, in theory?

The 3 Palmer Sisters!  Actually 2 sisters and 1 fabulous BFF, me, or so they say! Lisa, Amy, & Me. But we always refer to us as The 3 Palmer Sisters! Ha!  Last night we celebrated Lisa and Amy's aunts 50th birthday!  It was a surprise and she definitely was that! We had a fun time!   I am not sure about the live blue grass band but they did make for wonderful memories! Ha! Another to add to the list gals, amazing all we have already- 28 years worth!  It's always fun to spend time with good friends and family. These are the moments in which I am truly thankful, insanity!  Do you have those gals friends;  that you have known forever, that you may see all the time or rarely but when you see them it's like you haven't ever separated for a moment?  If so you are very blessed, because I know I am!  XO

CPOE time

CPOE? What is it you ask, it's only the project I have been actively working on since the beginning of the year! CPOE is computerized provider order entry and the hospital I work at is finally going Live this coming Tuesday!  As a member of the design team we are very excited to see how our efforts will play out at the bedside.  For months, the design team, made up of physicians, nursing, MIS, pharmacists... has worked to ensure a faceted design of order entry, both medication and non-medication orders. We are confident that our design will be not only clear to use but most importantly safer for our patients!

What an exciting time for us; this is an integral part of our hospitals history as we fast forward further into the informatics world! I have enjoyed very much working on this project, through the ups and downs, to get to where we are today.  Gals, and Dr P. I wish us the best Tuesday and pray for renewal for the second tier of the project! Ha!   See all of you at the command center next week, our new home away from home! Ha! Cheers to the design team, and thank you to everyone else who was instrumental in the build and will be through training and support!  We wouldn't be here without you!

VA Beach, VA

Last weekend Danny and I want to VA beach for 2 nights with my in-laws to attend the air show at NAS Oceana.  It was a good time, the whole weekend!   We had never been to VA beach, it was so nice compared to OC.  It was lush and green and quiet, except for this Italian festival which was amusing.  I would definitely go back.

We ate good food and laughed and just had a blast together, Danny and me alone and with his parents!  We ate at this restaurant called Abbey Road,  it had a Beatles theme which was pretty cool.  We also ate Italian one night and everyone spoke Italian which was so fun!

The air show was so crazy, there were so many people.   I was glad we could go and show our support.  At the end of the show, at the end of any air show pretty much, the blue angels flew.  That is amazing talent, absolutely wild!   All of the pilots were talented, it's just awesome to see that so close!   I had no idea that those fighter jets were so loud.  But I didn't need ear plugs although they were offered everywhere I turned! Ha! I am thankful for the soldiers in the military as they fight for our freedom.  I pray for them and their families who may be together or distant, for a safe active duty duration.  Thanks for all you do.  Gosh, I still have that dream to fly a plane.. not one of these of course just a little Cessna like my Dad!

Hmmm so VA beach, what else...  Well there was the beach which was wonderful, the waves were rolling in and the weather was just perfect, not too hot, always a breeze at high noon, and cool nights.  We came home early Sunday and beat the traffic which I am soo thankful for!  My poor in-laws got stuck in a 20 mile back up and it took them 8+ hours to get home- rough :(  I know I must be forgetting soemething but this will do for now!

Tuesday Today

It's Tuesday, day 2 since my husband has left.  Well I have to say I am making progress! Ha! I am staring the "non- routine" up again tonight!  I got off at my normal time, yaya and now for the evening... hmmm what's on my agenda.  Well dinner is done, so check.  I am going to bake 2 apple pies tonight from scratch.  When I made one when my husband was here is was delish so I am going to recreate that sense of taste and smell! One for home and one for work tomorrow!  I love the gals I work closely with; they are great!  Actually everyone is great.  I couldn't be more thankful for that!   But back to tonight, 2 pies, some cleaning, playing with the dogs and some exercise! And being outside is lovely with the fabulous weather, but I actually think tomorrow brings 90's again here- egh- I'll be sure to enjoy every minute tonight then!   What are your plans tonight?

Great Expectations

Wow! Time goes by so quick, and when do I get a chance to catch my breath! First it's September, hello fall, yes I love it, but what happen to August- I missed it it's true! Ha!  Now its week 2 of my husband being home and this time next week he will be gone- egh there is the sad face.  No actually I do fine when he is gone and I do not want to be that person "woe is me my husband isn't here" back of hand against the forehead like I am going to faint- yes I am a girls girl gals but not dependent! Ha! Although I am not criticizing, maybe I'll stop insert foot now! Sorry.

Well I have a 5 day weekend, thanks God! But Tomorrow is back to work, well today sort of I have been e-mailing and responding, and building and so on.  But it's a V8 day so now I am done with that and here.    Danny went to get his tattoo touched up and then he is off to  the Eastern Shore for some time with friends and family. I am home because I work tomorrow :/ But I had 5 wonderful days with my husband so I can't complain... too much! Ha! I have time for me, I am going to get my hair cut today with my good fiend Lisa at the new spa/salon she is working at! I am excited to see her!  So see it is going to be a good day!

So my question is how do we manage the day to day? Work, Home, Life... I have a hard time balancing it all especially when Danny is home.  HOME is the only place that matters when he is here and work can take a flying leap.  And the guilt that overcomes when I feel I have to choose between work and home, family is horrible.  I want to do well at my job and I have worked hard to be where I am and I don't want to let anyone down.  These expectations we set ourselves, ahhhh what are we thinking at times? But then Danny is here and that is my priority that is where I want to be with him. Si I take time, but then think about if it is a good time or not and all that I have waiting for me when I get back.  All the career moms out there, I give you much kudos.  I get flustered at having to come home and make dinner for my husband when he is only home for 2 weeks because my schedule is so tossed around when he is here.  I pray that when I have kids I will have a better handle on this.  So, the Life home, work balance... it continues, I guess you do what you can when you can.  God will never give you more then you can handle, I guess it's best to trust He knows what is going on because I sure don't! Ha!
